FRANCOIS JANOUEIX – A LEGENDARY WINEMAKER IN HISTORY

With a portfolio of exquisite wines coveted by wine enthusiasts for decades, Francois Janoueix has written a passionate chapter in history, making a significant contribution to the flourishing world of French wine.

The Janoueix family moved from a small village (Correze) to Bordeaux in 1898. Initially established in Margaux, the family business later relocated to Libourne, near Saint-Émilion, with its offices overlooking the banks of the Dordogne River. Through hard work, patience, and an unwavering work ethic, the family was fortunate to acquire several new estates around Bordeaux.

Francois Janoueix spans over 100 hectares, encompassing a vast collection of vineyards and wine estates across 9 distinguished appellations: Pomerol, Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Montagne Saint-Émilion, Lalande de Pomerol, Fronsac, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur, and Sauternes. Here, they craft wines that embrace the unique characteristics of each region, soil type, and microclimate. While preserving the traditions of winemaking, they continuously evolve, striving to refine and enhance their craft to produce wines of the highest quality.

The Janoueix family has preserved the art of viticulture and winemaking for over a century, upholding their prestigious reputation by relentlessly pursuing excellence. The ripeness and quality of each harvest remain their top priority. Their vineyard cultivation methods retain strong traditional influences from pruning to harvest where most tasks are carried out by hand. However, they remain deeply mindful of environmental concerns and the natural ecosystem, actively working to restore and regenerate it. Exploring terroirs and tasting grape varieties is their approach to crafting refined and distinctive wines. The vineyards of Francois Janoueix adhere to a satellite parcel mapping system, enabling precise monitoring of the vineyard’s vegetative cycle and its uniformity. This advanced level of precision ensures that only the finest quality grapes are harvested.

Francois Janoueix has dedicated time, passion, and unwavering devotion to crafting exceptional wines. Their slow and deliberate winemaking philosophy, free from haste, has given birth to remarkable masterpieces perfectly blending the essence of nature with the artistry of the people behind them.
